Bangkok is one of the best cities in the world for a ton of reasons, and one of them is FOOD.
Fine dining, street food, European cuisine, Korean barbecue, and more.
We have it all here.
And even if you don't feel like going out, you can get the best restaurants and street food delivered to your door in record time.
But what's the best food delivery app in Bangkok?
And what are the best restaurants that offer online delivery?
Online Food Delivery Apps
Foodpanda, Grab, Lineman, and Get are the 4 biggest food delivery apps in Bangkok.
Between the 4 of them, you will find every type of cuisines, 24/7, anywhere in the city.
But each of them has its pros and cons.
Every Bangkokians have a love and hate relationship with Foodpanda.
It's the app I personally use 90% of the time because they offer all their menus in English, have a lot of deals and discounts, almost every type of cuisines and the app is pretty easy to use.
The issue with Foodpanda is when things don't go as planned.
When the driver gets lost, the restaurant doesn't have the item you ordered or anything else go wrong.
In that case, it's really hard to get in touch with your driver.
And their customer support is most of the time either useless or nonexistent.
That being said, it's the most popular delivery app in Bangkok for expats and it is still super convenient to use.
You enter your address, choose a restaurant, confirm your order, and wait.
💵 Payment: Cash, Credit Card, Paypal
- English menus
- Tons of restaurants
- Lots of deals and discounts
- Easy to use
- Step by step notifications
- Not a lot of street food
- Mainly chains and high-end restaurants
- Bad customer support
If you're new to Bangkok, Grab is one of these apps you must have on your phone.
Grab is really a super app that does it all.
Taxis, bike taxis, drivers, grocery, package delivery, and of course, food delivery.
Like Food panda, Grab Food is reliable, fast, and reasonably priced.
The problem is if you don't speak or read Thai (like me) as a lot of restaurants have their menu only in Thai and sometimes don't have photos.
PS: By the way, for those of you looking for Uber Eats in Thailand, it's now gone after Uber left the Thai market in exchange for shares in Grab.
💵 Payment: Cash, Credit Card, Grab Pay
- Lots of deals and discounts
- Same app for other types of delivery and taxis
- A ton of street food
- Notifications at every step
- Some restaurants don't have a menu in English
- Fewer options
Like Grab, Lineman is another super app (developed by the same group as Line, the messaging app) that does it all.
The app offer package and grocery delivery, taxis, messenger, and of course, food delivery.
Lineman Food has the largest choice of restaurants as they have everything you can find on Wongnai (the Thai version of Yelp or Tripadvisor).
The only downside to that, a lot of the restaurants' menus are provided by users.
That means some of them are hard to read, don't have photos, and sometimes don't even have prices.
Unlike Foodpanda that communicates directly with the restaurant, and much like Grab Food, Lineman sends a driver to the restaurant to order for you.
So it could also take longer to get your order as the driver has to go there in person to place your order.
💵 Payment: Cash only
- Largest choice of restaurants
- 24 hours delivery
- Lots of deals and discounts
- Step by step notifications
- Some menus are only in Thais and/or don't have prices and photos
- Cash only
Get is the latest addition to food delivery services in Bangkok.
I haven't got a chance to try it yet and I didn't hear anything about it from my friends.
But it's there if you want to give it a try.
I'll update that post as soon as I've ordered with them to let you know how it went.
That's for the main food delivery apps in Bangkok.
Where Do Locals Order Food In Bangkok ? And What App They Use ?
Now that you know about the different online food delivery apps you can use, let's have a look at what locals use in real life.
I asked a few of my friends, all living in Bangkok, expats, and Thais, what food delivery app they use and why and what's their favorite restaurants and why.
(I also added a link to their blog or Instagram. Go check them out! 😉)
Here are their recommendations :
Shayan, Dose of Life
So I love ordering food. Mostly I use Foodpanda but also sometimes Grabfood or Lineman.
I live with my family, and on special occasions, our go-to restaurant to order from is Beirut, which has delicious Lebanese food.
My parents especially, love the food from there. In fact, we had it last night for my birthday.
I use Grab food the most because it’s convenient, easy and usually the waiting time is more accurate.
I order from Summer Bowl a lot.
Best Acai in town in my opinion.

Since I work in hospitality, I don’t like any food delivery app because they are asking for ridiculous commissions.
You must keep in mind that those restaurants are fighting for their survival in this difficult Covid-19 situation.
I feel sorry for them as I understand their worries and struggles.
I always check the websites or Facebook pages of the restaurant and try to order directly via email/telephone or pick up on my own if nearby.
I live in Bangkok for 5 years now and I always said I’m missing a real German Doner Kebab.
Luckily, a brand new Kebab store just opened in Sukhumvit Soi 22 opposite Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel: Berlin’s Doner Kebab.
It’s the best Doner Kebab in Bangkok and the taste is real, not like these so-called kebab shops we had around here.
They offer beef/lamb and chicken kebab with fresh, locally produced vegetables that are delivered and prepared daily along with the special "Doner Kebab" bread.
I’m happy we finally have a real Doner Kebab in Bangkok.

I use Foodpanda and Lineman Food.
Foodpanda because I can pay with Paypal, and Lineman Food when the restaurant isn't available on Foodpanda.
As for my favorite restaurants :
- Arno for their great value on meat and burgers and really good sauces.
- Lapin sandwich for the good value for money and great sandwiches.
- Soho Pizza because it's excellent.
- Ippudo ramen because they're really big and they have the best ramen on delivery (after Bankara 😉).
- Kaizen Sushi is delicious and they got huge sashimis.
- Al Saray is a really good Lebanese with big portions and awesome grilled meat.

Currently been ordering just from FB. I can't say what's my fav restaurant. I'm a foodie.
But for those who offer delivery :
This MK Lutong Bahay is nice.
I ordered from Saladaeng Dining Hall...very fast delivery.
And Ciao Pizza if you like pizza.
They are all different so I can't say fav. But they are all very good.
If juicing counts, then the Lifestyle Juicery. Great juices deliver.
I prefer to order directly from the restaurants I like!
This way my payment goes fully to them and I avoid any technical issues with other apps. Occasionally I use FoodPanda.
I nominate Snooze Atlas as my favorite restaurant. They make delicious smoothie bowls and have a cute plant shop as well!

Sometimes I'm lazy (or hangover) and in these situations, I'm glad food delivery apps exist.
In the past few months, the dishes I ordered the most are probably Thai food and Pizza.
As to what app I use to order food in Bangkok, it's either Foodpanda or Grab Food, and sometimes directly from the restaurant when they're really reactive on social media.
Foodpanda is clearly the easiest way to order food for a foreigner in Bangkok. All the items and explanations are in English and there is a lot of choices.
For Grab Food, it’s a really good second option, especially if you want to order a coffee or Thai food. They are also super fast.
And for pizza, definitely order Gallery Pizza.
They are open until 4 am and you can order with Facebook messenger.
They are very fast, their pizzas are very good and it's probably the best value in terms of pizza delivery (2 pizza for 499฿).
Oh, and the next food delivery service I want to try is Dahmakan.
They have a limited selection of dishes, different every day with 4 different themes. Their app is user friendly, their prices are low and the quality seems great!
I will let you know when I try it.

I mostly use Foodpanda because it's super simple and I don't read Thai.
I got a bit of love and hate relationship with them.
Love all the deals they have and the frequent discounts they send but once in a while when you have a problem with the app or driver, their support is almost nonexistent.
Great most of the time but it can be frustrating if something happens with your order.
As for my favorite restaurants, Yord Pad Thai for an excellent and cheap Pad Thai.
And Lazy Panda for amazing Chinese American food coming in delicious huge portions.
Bangkokians, Where do You Order Food Online ?
As I'm writing these lines during the COVID-19 crisis I'll relay the words of a few of my friends above and would encourage you to contact the restaurant directly as much as possible when your order online.
It's a tough time for everyone and especially restaurants that work hard to keep us fed and happy.
So please order directly with them so they don't have to give a cut of their margin to the delivery apps.
I'm sure that would make a big difference for them and maybe even save some from having to close shop.
Think about it next time you pull out your phone to order food online. 😉
Now, let us know in the comments, what's your favorite online food delivery app and restaurants in Bangkok?
